At Café Oscar, we feel very privileged by our surroundings. The area around the café is better known as old Frederiksstaden, a district filled with history and famous Copenhagen landmarks. This creates a unique atmosphere, not only when you are sitting at the café, but also when you walk around the neighborhood.

Amalienborg

Amalienborg has been the residence of the Danish monarchs in Copenhagen since 1794. It is unique both architecturally and symbolically. The Frederiksstaden district was laid out in 1748 as a tribute to the 300th anniversary of the Oldenborg royal house, with four grand mansions surrounding the octagonal square.

The Marble Church

Frederik’s Church was inaugurated in Copenhagen in 1894, but the foundation dates back to 1749 when King Frederik V established Frederiksstaden together with Amalienborg. The round church with its mighty dome is built in neo-baroque style and surrounded by statues from biblical and church history.

The Russian Church

The Alexander Nevsky Church was inaugurated in Copenhagen in 1883 in the presence of Tsar Alexander III and Empress Dagmar. It is built in historicist Russian style, and its facade on Bredgade is crowned by three gilded onion domes that give the building its distinctive identity.

Amaliehaven

Amaliehaven is a garden in Copenhagen created in 1983 on the former Larsens Plads by Amalienborg. Designed by Belgian landscape architect Jean Delogne and decorated with sculptures by Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro, it is an ideal place for a quiet pause by the water.
